A slow Monday. So Jared K. borrowed 1.2 billion dollars that he has to repay in two years. I wonder what he is willing to do to get a loan from someone. Surely, 1.2 billion dollars will not influence his judgement or advise to the President ... I bet people are lining up to give him a loan and not expecting to have any influence on U.S. politics. Yea, that makes sense.

If lending someone money is likely to influence their behaviour, do you think giving them money might influence them even more?

I’m guessing you are referring to how the Russian pay trump twice the value of property that he has owned for three months. And yes, I would think that giving him money like this would influence him more than getting a 1.2$billion dollar loan. However, I do think I would be influenced by a $1.2 billion loan quite a bit. I could rake off a tens of millions for my personal experience. I think both are huge.

No, I was not alluding to Trump. I was alluding to the Clintons, who received money from Wall Street and foreign governments and did so in massive amounts whilst Hillary was Secretary of State.

I suspect corruption is much more widespread. Pelosi springs to mind, for instance, who has made a serious amount of money by her selfless devotion to public service – which one would have thought was impossible.

Yes, I am sure Pelosi was influenced just like Trump, Hillary, etc. etc. People give money to politicians because it works …

Now you sound like it doesn’t bother you.

It bothers me, but I don’t see a way to change things at the moment. I usually vote third party as a protest vote but the great majority of people are still fighting for either the democrats or republicans not realizing both sides are working for themselves, not us. I see no change with Trump. I didn’t expect any change with Hillary.

Did you vote for Jill Stein? She was serious about wanting to do something about all the money in politics.

No, I voted for Gary Johnson. I mostly just voted against Hillary and Trump. No good options.

Gary Johnson was a terrible candidate with even worse policies.

He was a convenient protest vote, no more, no less.

So your argument is he can’t possibly have the character to put his country 1st? So you’re the only ethical person on the planet… or is it because you couldn’t trust yourself you simply can’t trust another?

Same logic as Hillary … Hillary can take money from Golden Sachs and not be biased just like Trump. Same argument, can’t have it both ways. Yes, I would be biased by millions and/or billions of dollars. I’m guessing all humans would be.

Sure she could, my issues with Hillary are far older than her speaking fees. Trump is just the 2nd worst choice.

Both are unacceptable with me. Hillary’s values seem to be power, money, fame??? Trump’s seem to be winning (with someone else losing), fame, power, money … Not the values that I will support.

There’s a reason I voted for Gary Johnson.

I also voted for Gary, but simply as a protest vote. His VP had it much more together than Gary.

maybe for TV, you can’t get a much more impressive resume than Gary.
