Actually, the situation is even worse as the statistics are rigged. See the burrito index for a nice explanation:

    Then there is this

That’s 70% of less than 1/2 the revenues taken in & only 70% of 1/3 the money required to run the government next year. That’s also personal income taxes not payroll taxes which are hidden taxes levied against wage earners. Most wage earners don’t know their Social Security contribution is matched by their employer or any of the other payroll taxes they pay through their employer or more correctly according to the IRS’s view that their employer is paying on their behalf… but, you never see it in your check, not on any deduction line. Those pay roll taxes are very nearly equal to the income tax rate.

Then there’s the ridiculous state of the Capital Gains rates. Which from what I’ve read I am left to assume is counted in the individual income slice.

It’s impossible to ignore the fact that through the biggest boom in the US economy we had, what was it a 90% top bracket tax rate?

The top 10% have 70% of the wealth which says if they only pay 70% of the tax then its not a progressive income tax.

It can be argued that 1% of the population needs to have control of 25%-30% of the wealth in order to produce the things & engage in the commerce which the rest of us require. What cannot be argued is the notion that it’s not important for the 80% in the middle to control very close to 50% of the wealth, that’s fundamental to the health of a Republic but, it’s essential that that same 80% be educated & capable of using sound reason in order that they keep it. The bottom 15% have no reason to expect to have 10% of the wealth in their nation & it can be argued well that that money would be wasted in their hands, not invested, not used to get better shelter or to feed their kids better quality food… lottery tickets, beer & an expensive cup of coffee in the morning. I see it every day. Wealth distribution in the US is definitely out of whack, the middle class is taking a beating & Hillary will give us 4 or 8 more years of the same if given the chance. Who knows what Trump might do but, Gary Johnson seems to have the skill to help create new jobs & help educate/re-educate the workforce.

The bottom 80% only have 7% of the wealth. So where is the middle class?

Exactly & it’s gone away under both Democrats & Republicans each chopping at us from their own side of the aisle. What’s distressing is the last time a President stood in the way of the rich bleeding the nation dry it was Teddy Roosevelt & the closest we have to him right now is Trump, Bernie had promise & in my opinion should be running an Indy campaign right now. We can really only blame ourselves for getting rich, fat & lazy while the rest of the world is getting harder, sharper & smarter. We went through a period of more than 20 years where smart wasn’t cool… where Hollywood glorified the lucky fool & vilified the hard working diligent individual as a patsy, a rube, a working stiff waiting to be abused.

You get a reply, just the one so rant on til you pass out if you must.
Trump is about as close to Teddy as there is in this election, he’s wealthy he’s essentially broken a 3rd party out of the Republican Party by defeating the establishment approved candidates. Will he leave the legacy Teddy did, don’t know but, he’s got many of the same credentials from being a loud mouthed plain spoken unafraid to offend New Yorker to being wealthy enough to know how power protects it’s money & where to hit it & rich enough to be immune as he wants to be to the influences of those who’d rather the system stay as it is. Do I have faith that he would be 1/2 the president Teddy was? Nope, I’m voting for Gary Johnson & I only wish Jill Stein were his pick for Surgeon General. SO I stand by what I said & you can call me all the names you want I know very well what I am from flaws to strengths, your opinion means less than nothing to moi. Flame on out Q.
